Lynch, Kentucky is a wonderful picture of small town America located along Highway 160, just a few miles south of Kingdom Come State Park and Southeast Community College. This majestic section of Kentucky is famous for the coal industry and the Appalachian Mountains. Lynch has a population of about 1100. Lynch was built by the United States Coal and Coke Company in 1917. The city of Lynch was incorporated in 1963. It is also home to the tourist attraction, Mine Portal Number 31, built in 1920. The town gets its name from Thomas Lynch, a former executive of the founding coal company.
Lynch is proud to offer several parks for public enjoyment. People that love to fish will enjoy going to nearby Martins Fork Lake, which is the only place in Kentucky home to the Coosa Bass. Kingdom Come State Park is only a few short miles away at Cumberland. The highest point in Kentucky (4,139 feet) on Black Mountain is also just around the corner.
